Natural Dye from Nerium Oleander L. and Dyeing of Cotton Fabrics Using Different Mordants with Evaluation of Colour Fastness, Strength and Antifungal Properties

Globally, there is growing demand in natural colourants from plants the food, cosmeceutical and pharmaceutical fields. Generally, among various categories of secondary metabolites, carotenoids, anthocyanins, phenols are significant plant-based pigments. Coloured pigments possess remarkable anthocyanin related to anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory anti-metastatic features. The major objective this work was elucidate coloured Nerium oleander L. ornamental flowering shrub its dying properties cotton fabrics. Natural dye flower methanolic extract extracted. Dying experiment on bleached (H2O2) fabric with density 140 g / square meter used. Pre, simultaneous post -mordanting action samples were carried out using 1-3 % metallic salts such as ferrous sulphate, potassium dichromate, stannous chloride, aluminium sulfate. Color strength dyed for different dyeing condition assessed by means K/S value. Best color yielded N. which mordanted Potassium sulfate FeSO4. fastness selected water, washing, perspiration rubbing also ideal. In all cases FeSO4 exhibited best results or mordanting respectively. This justifies designing a sustainable technology mobilizing usage coloration Fungicidal potential against A. flavus, niger, F. moniliforme wash analysis results. exquisite assessment tested colored evolves can be commercially implemented considering large scale trails.
